Silicon (Sі) trace element, improves the substantiality of vegetative organs' mechanical tissues
Silicon (Si) The trace element, the main substance of which is silicon, improves the substantiality of the mechanical tissue of the vegetative organs (shoots, leaves, root systems), affects the flowering, the formation of the ovary, forms the elasticity, stability of the plant cell walls (before the lodging of cereals); improves the photosynthesis process, affects the activity of growth and development of the plant (a powerful root system, increased number of leaves, seeds, increased content of sugars, nutrients in the fruit and the period of their storage); improves the exchange in plant tissues (nitrogen, phosphorus), fructification energy, promotes the absorption of phosphorus (due to effect of silicic acid), increases frost resistance, drought tolerance; increases resistance to stress factors (drought, temperature, condition of marshy ground, salinity), diseases (fungal, bacterial), contributes to yields raise. Silicon improves soil structuring, prevents degradation, becomes available for the plant in combination with phosphorus, iron, magnesium, potassium, nitrogen and reduces the toxicity of heavy metals.
Silicon deficiency: with insufficient amount of silicon, a fragility of vegetative organs (stems) and ovary yellowing appear, some plants (tomatoes) lose the ability to pollinate; the absence of flowering occurs; but it is difficult to detect on the surface the lack of silicon in some plants.
Abuse of silicon nutrition: leads to a violation of agricultural plants' growth and development processes, to the decay of the stems.
